So it goes.

The concept bridges across time and culture. See: mujō (Japanese terms for the Buddhist concept of impermanence).

Struwwelpeter

One of the most-read books of my childhood. Twisted and terrifying. This tells you a lot about my psychology…

Difficult to spell, though.

Tito Puente

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tito_Puente

I once correctly guessed Tito Puente on the first of a series of “person” hints at trivia night that started vague and gradually became more specific. I believe the hint was “Born in Spanish Harlem in 1923.” I’m neat.

Gulf Relief, Part 2

Addendum to the previous post:

A friend just pointed out to me: “We’re already contributing. BP’s cleanup fund is 33% bankrolled by taxpayers ($10B) due to big oil tax credits.”

True. Perhaps my comment should be, the least you can do is pay your taxes. If you have any interest in supporting the 3rd party relief efforts, donate.

BP

Who are these bastards, anyway?

——-

All shenanigans aside, here are ways you can help the Gulf Coast while sitting on your ass in front of your computer with your credit card in your pocket. It’s the least you can do.

Help provide the families in the Gulf with emergency assistance (food, rent, etc.) with United Way: http://www.unitedway.org/gulfrecovery

Help find and save the wildlife covered in oil, and recover the ecosystem that sustains them with The National Wildlife Federation: http://www.nwf.org/

Help the long-term recover of the Gulf’s natural habitats with The Nature Conservancy: http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/gulfofmexico/

We all live on this planet.

Attic

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attic

“known for being awkwardly shaped spaces with exposed rafters and difficult-to-access corners.” Pretty sure there’s an attic where my brain is supposed to be.

Bonus:

This image alone convinces me that I should buy whatever it is they’re selling. (The Attic Tent, it turns out.) FOAM: THE WAY OF THE FUTURE
